What You Should Know About Electrostatic Spraying

Electrostatic spraying is one of the more popular services Mister Kleen offers, as part of our multi-faceted Enhanced Kleen approach to helping businesses reopen facilities for clients and employees. If you are considering electrostatic spraying, here’s some information about the process, and why adding it into routine cleaning as well as addressing emergency needs such as COVID-19 and other outbreaks could be beneficial.

How does it work?

As the liquid disinfectant solution exits the electrostatic sprayer, it’s given a positive electrical charge. The droplets then become attracted to all negative surfaces, covering the visible area, underside, and backside of surfaces with the disinfectant. Surfaces that are already covered will repel the spray, making the method extremely efficient.

What are the benefits?

Superior Application: Electrostatic Spraying covers hard-to-reach areas that conventional trigger sprays may miss. There is also less opportunity for overwetting to occur.

Cost Effective: Electrostatic Spraying reduces the amount of time and product it takes to disinfect large areas of a facility, as well as the number of personnel needed for the job.

Better Infection Control: Electrostatic Spraying eliminates the need for disinfecting crews to physically touch potentially infected surfaces and reduces the possibility of cross-contamination.

How soon after application can people return to the space?

Typically, it’s asked that you wait one to two hours after treatment before entering the area. Once the area is complete and dry, employees can return and resume their normal routine.

What do we need to do to prepare the space for treatment?

The electrostatic spray is safe to use around sensitive surfaces such as upholstery, electronics, and wood. However, it’s asked that occupants store some items such as food, coffee/water cups, clothing, and papers before we come in to disinfect the space.

How often do we need to do it?

As with all disinfectants, electrostatic spraying kills the germs, bacteria, and viruses on surfaces at the time of application. It does not impart ongoing disinfection benefits. If your workplace is exposed to potentially high levels of pathogens such as SaRS-CoV-2 on a daily basis, you could benefit from regular electrostatic disinfection. Others may want to use it on an as-needed basis, such as when a case of COVID-19 is confirmed or suspected in the office.

How much does it cost?
