Accountability Creates Excellence: Yolanda Rathbone

Congratulations to Yolanda Rathbone, winner of the 2022 Accountability Creates Excellence (ACE) Program Award. The award recognizes our Area and Project Managers that consistently display accountability and excellence through meeting strict criteria of customer care. Yolanda won because of her dedication to exceeding client expectations and her ability to go above and beyond, even in the face of challenging situations.

Excellent Customer Service/Site Leadership Award: Joyce Garner

We’d like to congratulate Joyce Garner, the recipient of the 2022 Excellent Customer Service/Site Leadership Award, which recognizes employees who exceed customer expectations with high marks for accuracy and reliability. Thank you Joyce for your commitment to excellence and upholding the highest standards of customer care.

Employee of the Quarter: Phyllis Hailey

At Mister Kleen, our employees are our success! We recognize excellence with our Employee of the Quarter awards. Every quarter the operations management and headquarters management teams nominate and vote for the employees who have made the most meaningful impact on our clients, their co-workers and our company. Winners receive a certificate, a monetary gift, and recognition in The Kleen Sweep.

Phyllis Hailey is our Employee of the Quarter for April 2023.  Phyllis is an excellent communicator. She has a pleasant personality, always reports to work on time, has taken ownership of her assigned area and reports conditions of the building requiring repair or attention. Phyllis is a Team Player, she has superb customer service skills and has a keen eye for attention to detail. Phyllis, since assuming the fifth floor restrooms as her daily assignment, these restrooms have dramatically improved. Having no QC findings during this quarter, she takes great pride in her restrooms, ensuring all boxes are checked,” Area Manager Walter Gesford says.

Gary Sheppard

Congratulations to Gary Sheppard, who is a 2023 You Make a Difference Award winner! This award recognizes outstanding employees’ teamwork, productivity, and contributions to the company and our customers that go above and beyond.

“Gary is always on time with no callouts, he is always willing to help in any area we need. He has a good attitude and is professional at all times, and he is positive and works as a part of the team in any situation,” says Mister Kleen Project Manager Emma Corcio.

Kleen Team in the Community: Terry Henderson

We are proud of our Kleen Team’s efforts to give back to the community, and we will be spotlighting a member’s volunteer work every month!

At 6 foot 8, Terry Henderson towers over most folks and the natural question would be, “Do you play basketball?” The answer is yes – he played ball in college and went on to play professionally in Europe from 1997 to 2001.

These days, he works full time for Mister Kleen as a talent recruiter, a job that fits his friendly and warm personality. “I just really enjoy talking with people and working with people. And even though it’s the job to find them a position, I feel like I’m helping them obtain something whether they’re looking for a full time or a part time job. It’s a feeling of accomplishment when you can find that match.”

He lives with his family in Woodbridge but growing up, he had always lived in the area surrounding Mister Kleen and graduated from Edison High School, just a couple miles down the road from the office.

When he’s not interviewing potential members of the Kleen Team, he keeps his love for the game alive helping area youths achieve their own basketball dreams.

After serving as the girl’s head coach at Mount Vernon High School, he returned to his alma mater and was head varsity coach at Edison for 15 years. The “all-time winningest coach” in Edison’s history, Terry took the team to the state final four in 2012, losing to district rival Wakefield High School.

He didn’t confine his lessons to the court, either: “Through coaching, I help the kids understand that you have to give back to the community,” and they’ve organized multiple community events, including coat drives and feeding the homeless at DC shelters during the holidays.

He also volunteers with the Alexandria Kings, a nonprofit program that helps youth improve their basketball techniques, and on an informal basis offers his expertise to area youths to learn some skills for free.

“I love the game so much, we just open the doors and pass the word that the gym will be open from 2 to 4 or 4 to 7, and we’re working on ball handling. You know, those skills to help you attain the courage to try out for your team or to help you work on your skill set.”
